Drunk Driver Caused Bad Crash Near Louis Mall: JPD
The wreck happened late Saturday night.

JOLIET, IL - A 39-year-old man from Shorewood has been charged with felony drunken driving in connection with a bad crash on Saturday night that left the other motorist with severe injuries, according to police. The crash happened on Plainfield Road near the on-ramp to Interstate 55.
Joliet Police say that Miguel Angel De Leon was driving westbound along Plainfield Road around 10:50 p.m. when he tried to turn onto the ramp for I-55 south, toward Shorewood. According to Joliet Police, De Leon struck another oncoming car.
"The driver that was headed eastbound on Plainfield Road had severe injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle," Joliet Police said.

The crash victim was taken to a local hospital, according to police. Meanwhile, De Leon was charged with aggravated drunken driving and improper turn at an intersection.
"It was determined that De Leon was driving under the influence of alcohol," police said.

Will County Jail logs indicate De Leon's bail was set at $25,000. He needs to come up with $2,500 cash to post as bond. As of late Monday afternoon, that has not happened yet.
De Leon lives in the 100 block of East Jefferson Street in Shorewood, jail reports show.
