Bond Revoked In I-55 DUI Homicide Case
The August 2017 fatality killed Michael DeBoard, 60, of Braidwood.

JOLIET, IL - Will County Judge Dave Carlson has revoked bond for Lucas Roth, a 28-year-old former Homer Glen resident who was charged last year with four aggravated drunken driving charges related to an Aug. 9, 2017 collision along Interstate 55 that killed Michael DeBoard. Roth failed to show up for his pretrial court hearing on Monday.
DeBoard was rear-ended by a drunk driver at 2:20 a.m. Aug. 9 on I-55 near Channahon's Bluff Road exit, according to the Illinois State Police. The impact sent DeBoard's 1997 Ford Aspire off the right side of I-55. He hit an embankment and rolled over. DeBoard, 60, never recovered from his injuries. He died on Aug. 21, 2017.
Immediately after the wreck, the Illinois State Police put Roth in handcuffs and took him to the Will County Jail. Two days later, his family posted 10 percent of his $50,000 bail and he had remained free ever since.

The Roth family also retained the services of criminal defense attorney Ted Hammel, who is one of Joliet's leading DUI lawyers. In late August 2017, Hammel convinced Judge Carla Alessio Policandriotes to let his client return to the state of Missouri where Roth was living at the time of the fatal crash.
Nowadays, Policandriotes is retired and Carlson has taken over Felony Courtroom 405. On Monday, there was a pretrial hearing on Carlson's court docket. Two criminal defense attorneys representing Roth were present, Hammel and Lockport attorney George Gatses. Elizabeth Domagalla was there to represent the Will County State's Attorney's Office. As for Roth, he was nowhere to be found.

He was a no-show in court.
Carlson informed the courtroom he was revoking Roth's bond. A warrant was issued for Roth's immediate arrest. At 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, Roth was re-acclimated with the Will County Jail and a new mugshot was taken. He's now in Will County's custody on a no-bond detention.
