Enormous I-80 Drug Seizure At Joliet Exit: Sheriff
Will County Sheriff's deputies arrested the 48-year-old California man late last week. Bail for Carlos Javier Rosado is set at $1 million.

JOLIET, IL — On Tuesday, the Will County Sheriff's Office announced a major drug bust led to the recovery of 13 bundles of meth, two containers of Fentanyl pills and eight bundles of cocaine. The traffic stop and arrest of Carlos Javier Rosado of Downey, California, happened around 4:30 p.m. Dec. 3 near the Houbolt Road exit for Interstate 80.
"While speaking to him, deputies began to suspect that Rosado was involved in criminal activity," the Will County Sheriff's Office announced.
During a search of Rosado's GMC Acadia, sheriff's deputies found a secret compartment within his vehicle containing 13 bundles of methamphetamine totaling 8,587 grams, two containers of Fentanyl pills totaling 1,950 grams, eight bundles of cocaine totaling 8,800 grams and multiple cell phones, sheriff's officials said.

The sheriff's office used one of their drug-sniffing dogs named Malice to help with the search.

Sheriff's officials said that the 48-year-old Rosado asked for an attorney when deputies tried to question him, and he was put under arrest on the following charges:

- Making an improper turn
- Having an obstructed front windshield
- Having a false/secret compartment in his vehicle.
- Manufacture/delivery of fentanyl over 900 grams
- Possession of fentanyl over 900 grams
- Manufacture/delivery of methamphetamine over 900 grams
- Possession of methamphetamine over 900 grams
- Possession of cocaine over 900 grams
- Manufacture/delivery of cocaine over 900 grams.
Rosado was booked into Will County's Jail around 10:30 p.m. and he remained in custody on Tuesday afternoon, unable to post his $1 million bail.
