Ervin Evans, 28, Finds Himself Accused Of An Unconventional Attempted Roberry
The 28-year-old Joliet resident who lives in the 400 block of Wilcox faces one felony and one misdemeanor charge.

JOLIET, IL - Walking in traffic along Jefferson Street or Larkin Avenue can be outright dangerous. But for Ervin Evans, police say, he was darting in and out of traffic last week as part of a criminal scheme. The 28-year-old Joliet resident, who lives in the 400 block of Wilcox, was subsequently arrested on a felony charge of attempted robbery and a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
Police say that Evans claimed to be almost hit by a passing motorist on Jefferson Street. Minutes later, in the 1700 block of South Larkin, Evans approached a 20-year-old motorist near the Subway restaurant. According to police, Evans demanded the driver give him $100 for nearly hitting him. The driver pulled out his wallet and gave Evans $60 over the ordeal. But Evans was not satisfied. He demanded more money, police said. Authorities said that Evans grew angry and tried to grab the driver's wallet. Police were called and Evans was apprehended a short time later.
Evans has a court hearing on Sept. 7 to answer to the attempted robbery charge. For now, he's been unable to come up with $1,000 cash, or 10 percent, of his $10,000 bond.
