Essington Road Shut Down 30 Minutes, Driver Hospitalized

Essington Road going southbound was shut down for about 30 mins while Joliet Fire Department paramedics worked the emergency.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet Fire Department Battalion Chief Matt Baxter announced that Tuesday afternoon's wreck at the busy intersection of Essington Road and West Jefferson Street injured three people and sent one of them to St. Joe's hospital.

The collision happened at 1:12 p.m. Fire crews from Station 7 found a three-car wreck, with one vehicle on its side. Crews from Station 6 and 7 worked to extricate one patient from their car. Baxter said the most severely injured patient was taken to St. Joe's and they did not face life-threatening injuries.
