Far West Side Joliet Shooting Leaves Teen Injured

JOLIET, IL —Violent crime continues to occur all across the city of Joliet. On Saturday night, two people were shot during the grand opening of a downtown urban clothing store. At 12:01 a.m. Monday, a young Romeoville man was fatally shot inside his car in the St. Pat's Neighborhood on Seeser Street. Early Tuesday, a teenager was shot inside his house on Joliet's far west side.

Joliet police say the 18-year-old victim suffered non-life threatening injuries. The crime happened at 12:50 a.m. in the 2500 block of John Bourg Drive. Joliet police said the house was shot up and one car on the street was shot up as well.

"Officers contacted an 18-year-old victim inside of the residence that had been grazed by gunfire while he was laying in his bed," a Joliet Police Department news release states. "Officers determined that multiple shots were fired from outside the front of the residence, causing injury to the victim and extensive damage to the home and vehicle."

The victim is being treated at AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center.
