Joliet Homicide Victim ID'd, Police Have Suspect Info

Joliet police say the deadly shooting happened in the St. Pat's Neighborhood Area at 12:01 a.m. Monday.

JOLIET, IL— The Joliet Police Department is looking for a white man in his 30s with buzzed dark hair in connection with an overnight gun homicide around the St. Patrick's Neighborhood. A 25-year-old man was shot as he sat behind the wheel of his car, police said.

The Will County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Ivan A. Perez-Garcia, a Romeoville resident. He was pronounced dead at the AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center at 12:52 a.m. Monday.

Joliet police say the deadly shooting happened at 12:01 a.m. in the 100 block of Seeser Street.

"The investigation indicated that as the victim sat in his vehicle, an unknown suspect exited from a nearby vehicle and approached the driver side of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect displayed a handgun and began firing into the vehicle, striking the victim," Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English announced in Monday's news release.

Joliet police described the killer as a white man, approximately 30 years old, 5-foot-5, medium build, clean shaven. He had buzzed dark hair and wore a gray full zipped hoodie, authorities said.
