Fire Consumes Joliet 2-Story House, 1 Person Hospitalized

Saturday's house fire was declared under control at 6:05 a.m., according to the Joliet Fire Department.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet Fire Department Battalion Chief Victor Stachelski announced that one person was taken away by ambulance during Saturday's early morning fire that happened in an older Joliet neighborhood on the city's east side.

Flames consumed the house at 216 3rd Avenue, and firefighters learned of the blaze at 4:53 a.m.

The first units arrived within four minutes and were met with heavy fire coming from the two-story, wood framed house.

First arriving units had fire on the first floor, second floor, and the attic of the structure

Firefighters gave medical assistance to two residents who escaped the fire.

One was taken to St. Joe's hospital with minor injuries.

Crews deployed multiple hose lines to attack the fire and protect nearby exposure structures. The fire was declared under control at 6:05 a.m.

Fire crews from stations 1, 3, 4, and 6 responded to the scene. There were no injuries to firefighters report. The fire is currently under investigation.
