Fire Outside TGI Fridays At Mall Lands Joliet Man In Custody: JPD

Joliet police responded to Louis Joliet Mall, 3340 Mall Loop Drive, for a report of a garbage can on fire.

JOLIET, IL — There are very few fires at the Louis Joliet Mall property, but last week's fire outside the TGI Fridays Restaurant did not just result in the fire being extinguished, it led to the Joliet police arrest of 28-year-old Edward Jaramillo.

Joliet police booked him into custody and later sent him on his way, releasing Jaramilo with his notice to appear in court on charges of criminal damage to property.

At 10:21 p.m. on Feb. 27, Joliet police responded to Louis Joliet Mall for a garbage can on fire outside the entrance to TGI Fridays Restaurant.

Officers learned that the fire may have been started intentionally. During the investigation, police said officers learned that Jaramillo had discarded burning cigarettes into two separate trash cans with the intent to set them on fire. Jaramillo was found inside TGI Fridays and was placed into custody without incident.

The fire was extinguished by responding Joliet officers, officials said.
