New Joliet Chamber of Commerce President Jen Howard said that unlike years past, spectators will not be allowed inside Memorial Stadium to watch Joliet's July 4th fireworks show. Howard told Patch that the details of where people will be urged to park to watch the show are still being worked out. Organizers of Joliet's annual fireworks show are hosting a fund-raiser from 4 to 7 p.m. on June 18 at The Dock At Inwood.

Howard said the annual Memorial Stadium fireworks display costs at least $20,000. People can also drop off a donation at The Dock, Howard said.

Howard told Patch that the independent committee of local volunteers wants to make sure that Joliet's annual Independence Day fireworks show happens.

A number of communities across Illinois have canceled their July 4th fireworks shows including Channahon. Joliet's annual July 3 fireworks show at Bicentennial Park was also canceled.

"I think the community needs something positive and a celebration at this time," Howard told Joliet Patch.

On July 1, Joliet Park District officials released the following map giving people suggestions where to park to watch Saturday's Fourth of July fireworks show.
