Fight On Plainfield Road Leads To 1 Arrest: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — Tuesday evening's violent encounter in the 2800 block of Plainfield Road has resulted in the arrest of 37-year-old Joliet resident Brandon Tatum on charges of aggravated battery and criminal property damage, according to Joliet police reports.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said Tatum's arrest happened at 6:44 p.m. and the following events led to it:

A woman saw Tatum attempting to take items out of a clothing donation bin outside a nearby store. After the woman told Tatum to stop, Tatum approached the truck that the victim was driving while on a bicycle and intentionally collided his bicycle into the victim’s truck, causing damage to the truck.

Tatum then reached into the open driver’s side window and struck the victim in the face.

At that moment, Tatum opened the victim’s door, and the victim exited the truck and Tatum repeatedly pushed the victim.

During the attack, Tatum grabbed the victim’s phone and threw it to the ground, damaging the phone.

Officers located Tatum in the 2700 block of Plainfield Road and placed him into custody without incident.

On Wednesday, Tatum learned that his bail was being set at $25,000. Tatum comes from the 200 block of Joliet's Cass Street, which is on the entrance into Joliet's downtown business district.
