Fred W. Holzrichter Obituary

Dedicated Husband, Father and Grandfather

Fred W. Holzrichter

Passed away peacefully, at home with family present, on Thursday April 11, 2024. He was 80 years old.

Fred was born in Chicago to Hugo and Elsa Holzrichter. He was raised in Chicago and graduated from Harper H.S. He began his studies at Wartburg College, Waverly, IA., but during a “financial break” in 1967, was drafted into the Army. Trained as a Chaplain’s Asst., he was sent to Korea and served on the DMZ. Upon his return home, he completed his B.A. degree in Wartburg. Fred worked in Advertising, Alumni and Development fields. One of his proudest moments was receiving his CFRE in 1995. He retired in 2009 from the American College of Surgeons, Chicago, IL. Previously with Joliet Junior College Joliet, IL; Brescia College, Owensboro, KY., Morgan Park Academy, Chicago and the IL and IA Credit Union Leagues.

While in Chicago and developing his own business, Fred restarted the Beverly Area Business Assoc. (BAPA) and was active with the Jim Thompson for Gov. Election campaign. Fred was always an active member in the Lutheran Church. Fred had many interests: an avid fisherman, Little League Umpire, life-long White Sox fan, and a USNA Blue & Gold Information Officer for 25 years.

Preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Robert, Edward (Kay) and Norman Holzrichter.

Survived by his loving wife of 58 years Margaret (Boicourt), their children Sara Kandl, Mark (Shannon) Holzrichter and Emily (Dean) Anders. He was very proud of his children and eight grandchildren: Grace and Hayley Kandl, Hannah, Audrey and Katherine Holzrichter; Lauren, Mallory and Jack Anders; also his sister Nancy (Ron) Rademacher; sisters-in-law Phyllis and Susan Holzrichter; many nieces, nephews, his honorary brothers Joe and Bob and many dear friends.

Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Thursday, April 25th from 3:00 -7:00 P.M. Memorial service at St. John Lutheran Church, 2650 Plainfield Road, Friday, April 26th at 11:00 A.M. Inurnment will be held on Monday, May 20th at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
