JOLIET, IL — A 27-year-old Bolingbrook woman was arrested by several Will County Sheriff's deputies after causing a disturbance inside the Will County Courthouse, damaging government property outside and injuring one of the deputies as she spewed multiple racial slurs at people inside and outside the courthouse, authorities said.

Joliet Patch filmed Thursday's arrest of Alissia Huet along the downtown sidewalks of Joliet's City Hall. Huet was escorted away in handcuffs and driven to the Will County Jail a few blocks away, where she's now one of the jail's newest inmates.

Will County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Dan Jungles later told Joliet Patch that the following events led to Huet's arrest:
  • Huet was inside the courthouse on the first floor in the clerk's office where she began causing a disturbance, screaming, acting belligerent and calling several people including the clerk's employees racial slurs, he said.
  • One of the clerks pushed the emergency alarm, prompting several Will County Sheriff's deputies assigned to courthouse security to respond. The deputies calmed her down and asked her to leave the building because she was yelling racial slurs at everybody, according to Jungles.
  • After the deputies escorted Huet outside, a second incident happened as Huet began destroying the landscaping around the courthouse and breaking several of the outside lights, he said.

  • When the sheriff's deputies saw her damaging property, Jungles said, they confronted Huet and notified her she was being placed under arrest, and that's when she tried to run away.
  • She was captured on the sidewalk outside Joliet's City Hall and that's where she began spewing more racial slurs at the deputies gathered around her to make the arrest.
  • While resisting the arrest, Huet clawed one of the Will County sergeants, causing him to bleed, officials said.

After driving Huet back to the Will County Jail, Huet caused more problems inside her holding cell, Jungles told Patch.

Jungles said that deputies discovered a white powdery substance in her possession that still needed to be tested to determine whether it's an illegal narcotic.

Also, Huet faced an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of Cook County, Jungles noted.

According to Will County court records, Huet had a handful of traffic ticket cases and a civil lawsuit filed against her by an insurance company in connection with a crash.
