Guest At Joliet Motel 6 On McDonough St. Refuses To Pay Bill: Police

JOLIET, IL — A 51-year-old Joliet man was hauled off in handcuffs following Sunday morning's loud disturbance at the Motel 6, 1850 McDonough Street, arrest reports show.

Officers had Nicholas Sodt arrested and booked into the Will County Jail, where he's facing aggravated assault and criminal trespass charges.

Sodt listed the Motel 6 as his permanent residence, according to jail records.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following events unfolded on Sunday:

  • At 11:06 a.m., officers responded to the Motel 6 for a disturbance. Officers determined that Sodt, a motel guest, was involved in an argument with the manager. The manager then requested that Joliet police escort Sodt from the premises after not paying his bill.
  • While officers spoke to Sodt, police said he became angry and approached them in a threatening manner on multiple occasions. Police said Sodt also ignored police commands to leave the premises. Sodt was then placed into custody without incident.
  • Bail for Sodt has been set at $10,000. He remained incarcerated on Monday, unable to post the necessary 10 percent to regain his freedom.
