Gunfire At Joliet Gas Station, Woman Arrested By Joliet Police
Lakeshia Jones, 33, then fired a handgun once into the air to end the disturbance prior to the arrival of Joliet police, authorities said.

JOLIET, IL — A 33-year-old Joliet woman was arrested Sunday night by Joliet police officers following gunfire on the city's southeast side, at the BP gas station near the busy corner of McDonough and South Chicago Streets.
Officers brought Lakeshia Jones to their downtown police station a few blocks away and later released her with a notice to appear in court on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and also reckless discharge of a gun.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English informed Joliet Patch that the following events led to the woman's arrest at the BP gas station:

- At 11:13 p.m., officers responded to BP gas station for a disturbance. While inside the store, a man became involved in a domestic disturbance with a female friend of Jones. The disturbance continued outside the store as other people tried to intervene.
- "It is believed that Jones then fired a handgun once into the air to end the disturbance prior to the arrival of officers," English noted.
- Officers found Jones at the BP property, and she had a gun in her purse.
- Jones did not possess an Illinois conceal carry license, and she was placed into custody without incident as the officers recovered the handgun for evidence for her criminal prosecution.
