Gunman With Dog Enters Crest Hill Business On Broadway And Fires Gunshot: Police Chief Reveals Motive
As Crest Hill officers arrived, they learned that someone saw a white man enter the business with what appeared to be a handgun.

CREST HILL, IL — The Crest Hill Police Department issued a press release on Thursday night announcing that a 26-year-old Lockport man, Arturas Proskurinas Jr., has been arrested on a slew of felonies following a shooting incident at a North Broadway Street business. His charges include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm and intimidation.
According to Police Chief Ed Clark, the Crest Hill Police Department responded to the 2000 block of North Broadway Street earlier in the day for the report of a man with a gun.
As the officers arrived, they learned that someone saw a white man enter the business with what appeared to be a handgun in his possession. The man, later identified as Arturas Proskurinas Jr., also had a dog with him while entering the building. Clark said that someone heard what they thought was a gunshot inside the building. Clark said the officers quickly entered the building and made contact with Proskurinas.

Chief Clark said that Proskurinas was taken into custody without issue. Officers located evidence that a shot was fired inside. No one was injured in the incident, and the dog was safely removed from the building.
According to Clark, the Crest Hill officers spoke to the victim and learned that the man came into the business and was upset regarding past interactions the victim had with a previous employee, who happened to be a relative.

“I am proud of the officers' quick response and great teamwork to resolve this incident safely,” Chief Clark remarked.
The business was cleared of any further danger, processed for physical evidence, and returned to the business owner. This was an isolated incident, Clark emphasized.
