Hampton Inn Parking Lot Fight: 1 Woman Sent To Hospital

Joliet police went to the Hampton Inn near the Louis Joliet Mall early Saturday morning after learning that a fight broke out.

JOLIET, IL — A 21-year-old Joliet woman was arrested this past weekend after a fight broke out outside the Hampton Inn on Mall Loop Drive. Two people were attacked by 21-year-old Ashanti Duncan, and one of them was taken to the hospital, according to police.

Duncan was booked into the Will County Jail and charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, battery and resisting a peace officer.

Joliet police were sent to the Hampton Inn around 1:05 a.m. Saturday after learning of a fight.

"Further investigation revealed that after a party bus had dropped Duncan and the victims off in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn, Duncan began to argue with one of the victims, at which time Duncan began punching and kicking the victim multiple times," police reports reflect.

When another woman tried to intervene, Duncan hit her in the face, according to police.

The first person Duncan hit was taken by ambulance to St. Joe's hospital to treat her injuries, police reports state. The second victim was treated at the scene, police said.

As for Duncan, she was booked into custody at the Joliet police station and initially released from custody on an I-bond for the battery charge, police indicated.

"While in the parking lot of the Joliet Police Department, Duncan became angry and spat in the face of an officer," police said. "Officers attempted to place Duncan into custody, however, she began swinging her arms and pulling away to defeat the arrest. Duncan was placed into custody after a brief struggle."

Will County Jail records indicate that Duncan was released from custody on Saturday after posting 10 percent of her $5,000 bail.

The Joliet resident lives in the unit block of East Zarley Boulevard, jail logs show.
