Intoxicated Harrah's Patron Damages Casino: JPD

JOLIET, IL — Antonio Valdez, a 33-year-old man from Harvey, is locked up in the Will County Jail facing criminal damage to property charges after an incident that caused damage to Harrah's Casino property in downtown Joliet, Joliet police reports show.

Around 2:38 a.m. Thursday, while most of Joliet slept, overnight officers were sent to 151 N. Joliet St. because someone damaged Harrah's Casino property, according to police.

  • Officers learned that due to his level of intoxication, Valdez was denied entry to the casino floor by security guards. Valdez got upset and began walking in a hallway toward the parking deck, and that's when he punched an LED flat screen television mounted on the wall.
  • The force of Valdez's punch damaged the Harrah's TV to the point that it no longer functioned.
  • Valdez then ran off, first to the parking deck, but then he came back to the casino where he was detained by security guards. When Joliet police arrived to the call, Valdez was placed into custody without any problems.
  • The damaged television was worth approximately $700.
