Unlicensed Joliet Driver Crashes Into Fence After Drinking Too Many Beverages: Joliet Police

Joliet police officers say they suspected him of being impaired by alcohol based upon his behavior and their observations.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department made a number of drunken driving arrests this past weekend and one of those involved 34-year-old Joliet resident Eduardo Chontal-Escribano, who does not a valid driver's license, the arrest report showed.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 9:26 a.m. on Saturday, the officers responded to the 900 block of Collins Street for a Suzuki Vitara that struck a fence behind a residence. He said the officers found the vehicle and identified Chontal-Escribano as its driver.

While speaking to Chontal-Escribano, English said the officers suspected him of being impaired by alcohol based upon his behavior and their observations. Chontal-Escribano indicated he had consumed alcohol prior to driving.

According to the arrest reports, he refused to conduct field sobriety tests, and he was placed into custody without incident.

English pointed out that Chontal-Escribano did not have a driver’s license. Chontal-Escribano was charged with aggravated DUI. He was cited for having no valid driver’s license. He was processed at the Joliet Police Department and released on a notice to appear in court.
