'He Told Her He Would Kill Her:' Complaint
Joliet resident Matthew Nero has a warrant out for his felony arrest.

JOLIET, IL - In July 2017, Joliet Police officers charged Matthew C. Nero with domestic violence, but his case was later dismissed when the victim chose not to cooperate with the Will County State's Attorney's Office, court documents show. Now, Nero is accused of threatening to kill a different woman. Prosecutors recently charged Nero with aggravated battery, aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery.
A bench warrant was issued last week for Nero's arrest. He remains at large.
The Joliet Police Department's criminal complaint states that Nero, on Sept. 1, committed domestic battery against a woman who is a family or household member "in that said defendant strangled" the woman.

During that same crime, Nero used a deadly weapon, "a pair of scissors ... in that said defendant pressed the scissors into her neck and told her he would kill her," court documents note.
Third, Nero "struck (the victim) about the head," resulting in the domestic battery charge, the complaint reads.

So far, the 32-year-old Nero, who lives in the 2900 block of Nancy Vallera Lane, has not been taken into custody.
