2nd Arrest Made In Hickory Street Shooting

Two young men from Algonquin are now in the Will County Jail in connection with the Aug. 19 shooting on North Hickory Street.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police have charged a second person in connection with the Aug. 19 shooting of a 23-year-old man in his chest in the unit block of Hickory Street. This week, Joliet police announced that Bryan Dantzler, 25, of Algonquin, is now in the Will County Jail facing charges of armed robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

His total bail is set at $503,000.

Around 7:45 p.m., Joliet police responded to a call involving a shooting victim on North Hickory Street. The victim was rushed to AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center and he suffered his injuries.

"Joliet Police Detectives investigating this case were successful in identifying Dantzler as a suspect," police announced.

On Tuesday, Dantzler was taken into custody by members of the US Marshall’s Great Lakes Regional Task Force at a residence in Algonquin and then he was moved to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, police said.

On Aug. 29, Joliet Patch reported that a27-year-old man from Freeport was arrested by Joliet police detectives in connection with the same Aug. 19 shooting that left a 23-year-old Joliet man with serious injuries in the unit block of North Hickory Street.

Joliet police announced that Charles D. Young Jr. faces two counts of armed robbery and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Young remains in the county jail and his total bail is $501,000.
