Homeless Woman Stabbed At Joliet Auto Zone Parking Lot

Olethea Jackson, age 34, of Bolingbrook, was arrested by Joliet police on charges of aggravated battery.

JOLIET, IL — A 34-year-old woman from Bolingbrook, Olethea Jackson, was arrested by Joliet police over the weekend in connection with a stabbing at the Auto Zone parking lot on Joliet's east side.

Jackson, who comes from West Mayfield Drive, is now locked away from society at the Will County Jail, with a $35,000 bail. Joliet police charged her with aggravated battery.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events led to Saturday night's arrest at the Auto Zone property:

  • Officers were called to the business at 409 East Cass Street for a stabbing.
  • Police said a 28-year-old homeless woman became involved in a fight with Jackson near East Cass Street and Casseday Avenue, at which time Jackson lunged at the victim and stabbed the female victim in the abdomen with an x-acto knife.
  • The victim sustained a superficial injury to her abdomen and was treated at the scene by Joliet Fire Department paramedics. A short time later, Joliet police found Jackson hiding in bushes near Benton Street and Casseday Avenue, and she was placed into custody without incident.
  • The knife was recovered by the officers.
