Houbolt Road Arrest, Gun Found In Joliet Man's Bag: Police

At 12:50 a.m. Joliet police pulled over the Chevrolet Suburban near West Jefferson Street and Houbolt Road for an equipment violation.

JOLIET, IL — A 32-year-old Joliet man from the 1500 block of Marquette Road is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say they found a loaded gun inside a bag being kept in the car of James Davis Jr.

The incident happened overnight, early Thursday, and Davis was taken away in handcuffs on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, unlawful possession of ammunition and having No FOID.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the traffic stop happened at 12:50 a.m. and involved the following events:

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Suburban near West Jefferson Street and Houbolt Road for an equipment violation.

Officers received consent to search the SUV driven by Davis and recovered a loaded handgun as well as additional ammunition from a bag in the vehicle.

Davis was placed into custody without incident. Davis was also cited for driving while license revoked, transportation of alcohol by driver and unlawful possession of cannabis by Driver.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
