Intoxicated Joliet Motorist With No License Smacks Guardrail: JPD

JOLIET, IL — A 28-year-old intoxicated Joliet woman who has no valid driver's license crashed into a guardrail on the city's east side around 5:20 a.m. Sunday, according to Joliet arrest reports.

Officers took Tatiana Diaz-Aguilar, who comes from the 0 to 100 block of South Raynor Avenue, to the Will County Jail, where she's charged with aggravated DUI and DUI.

Joliet police said that Diaz-Aguilar was involved in a one-vehicle wreck at North Eastern Avenue and State Street.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English:

  • Diaz-Aguilar was southbound on State Street approaching North Eastern Avenue when she lost control of her Chevrolet Equinox and struck a guardrail on the east side of the street.
  • A Joliet Fire Department ambulance responded to the scene, but Diaz-Aguilar refused medical treatment.
  • Diaz-Aguilar showed signs of alcohol impairment and she refused to perform field sobriety tests and was placed into custody without incident.
  • Diaz-Aguilar was cited for having no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage and failure to reduce seed to avoid an accident. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
  • Jail logs indicated that Diaz-Aguilar remained in county detention on Monday, unable to post 10 percent of her $3,000 bail.
