Irate Man Vows To Kill Joliet Woman On Madison Street: Joliet Police

The officers recovered the handgun that was used in the incident, according to Joliet police.

JOLIET, IL — While most of Joliet was sound asleep, Joliet police officers working the overnight shift responded to a violent confrontation in the 200 block of Madison Street that involved a gun. Officers took 34-year-old Joshua Johnson away in handcuffs and booked him into the Will County Jail, where he still remains on Friday.

Johnson, an apartment dweller from the 600 block of North Hickory Street, is being charged with domestic battery, aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Wednesday's arrest happened around 4:30 a.m.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events led to Johnson's detention at the jail:

  • Officers responded to an apartment on Madison Street for a domestic disturbance. Officers learned that Johnson had grown angry at a woman in the kitchen.
  • Johnson pointed a handgun at her and threatened to kill her.
  • Johnson then punched the victim in the face multiple times. A roommate in the apartment intervened in the attack and recovered the handgun after Johnson had dropped it.
  • Johnson was placed into custody without incident. Officers recovered the handgun that was used in the incident.
