JOLIET, IL — The Will County State's Attorney's Office has resolved six of its eight criminal cases against Joliet's Jarrod "Luckey" Barnes. The 41-year-old resident of the 400 block of Kungs Way pleaded guilty to felonies in two cases, while four of his cases were dismissed under the plea agreement.

Barnes pleaded guilty to aggravated battery for his Dec. 31 attack of a private security guard at St. Joe's hospital. His resisting an arrest charge was dismissed under the plea. Barnes was fined $620 and put on two years of court probation.

On Jan. 3, Joliet Patch reported that Joliet police responded to the emergency room at St. Joe's hospital because "Barnes was shouting and kicking chairs in the waiting area. After a hospital security officer attempted to check on Barnes' welfare, Barnes began yelling at the security officer and began aggressively approaching him. Barnes then struck the arm of the security officer," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said at the time of the arrest.

Barnes also pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property in connection with his attack on Eric Zabel, manager of security and valet parking at downtown Joliet's Harrah's Casino & Hotel.

During his violent outburst, Barnes broke Zabel's eyeglasses, court records show. Barnes was given two years of probation, plus fines and restitution totaling $3,314. Barnes was sentenced to 180 days in the Will County Jail, however, because he had already served 98 days, Barnes was released from jail on March 28, which was the date of his plea bargain, court records show.

Will County Judge Sarah Jones also ordered Barnes not to set foot on the Harrah's casino property as part of his sentence.

Meanwhile, Will County prosecutors dismissed the charges in connection with Barnes' arrest at the Walmart on West Jefferson Street when he allegedly stole alcohol. Charges were also dropped in connection with Barnes' arrest where he was accused of stealing of alcohol and throwing cans at an employee inside the El Rancherito supermarket, 561 East Cass St.

Additionally, criminal damage to property charges were dropped against Barnes in connection with the Halloween night incident at the John Bays public parking deck on Scott Street. The November incident at the McDonald's restaurant at 1515 W. Jefferson St. where Barnes was accused of damaging chairs and threatening to harm a woman and a man at McDonald's were also dropped, court files show.

As for his two remaining cases, Barnes is scheduled for his next pretrial hearing on May 17 in front of Judge Jones.
