Jefferson Street Bridge in Joliet Reopens
The bridge had been closed for repainting since July.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has reopened the Jefferson Street Bridge, according to the City of Joliet.
The bridge had been closed for repainting since July.
Guy Tridgell at the Illinois Department of Transportation said that while the east leaf portion wrapped up Wednesday, west leaf will be done next spring over a period of a couple months. No dates have been set for the project.
The repainting job was supposed to be completed in mid-October, but the project was extended due to structural issues that were discovered during the course of painting and needed to be addressed, Tridgell said in an email.
