Jewelry Thief Caught At Esporta Fitness On Route 59: Police

JOLIET, IL — A 22-year-old Plainfield resident from South Des Plaines Street spent Friday night inside the Will County Jail after Joliet police say Miley Cash was responsible for stealing expensive jewelry inside at the Esporta Fitness, formerly the LA Fitness, at 1745 Route 59.

Cash is being charged with burglary and theft.

Around 2:50 p.m. Friday, Joliet police were sent to the Esporta Fitness for a theft incident.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events led to Cash's arrest:

Officers learned that the secured combination lock on a gym member’s locker in the men’s locker room had been broken by force and two pieces of jewelry with a total value of approximately $3,500.00 had been stolen from the locker while the victim was using the gym.

During their investigation of this incident, Cash was identified as a possible suspect in the theft. Officers located Cash near the men’s locker room and questioned him in reference to the theft. Cash allowed them to search his gym bag and that was when the officers recovered both pieces of the stolen jewelry.

Cash was then placed into custody without incident.

Cash was let out of the Will County Jail around lunch time on Saturday after posting 10 percent of his $25,000 bail.
