Jim Glasgow Wins Chamber Of Commerce Service Award
The Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry named Jim Glasgow as the 2021 recipient of the Rabbi Hershman Community Service Award.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry named Will County State’s Attorney Jim Glasgow as the 2021 recipient of the Rabbi Hershman Community Service Award.
Glasgow will receive the award on Jan. 20 at the Renaissance Center at the chamber’s Annual Dinner and Celebration of Success.
The Rabbi Hershman Community Service Award is presented in memory of Rabbi Morris Hershman, who served 55 years as rabbi of the Joliet Jewish Congregation, and also served as president of the Joliet Rotary Club, chairman of the local United Way, and as an honorary lifetime member of the Greater Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce.

“Jim Glasgow certainly fits the mold of a community servant and therefore truly is worthy as the recipient of this community service award,” the Chamber of Commerce said in a news release. “As a prosecutor and third-generation Will County resident, State’s Attorney Glasgow has committed himself to making Will County the safest place to live, work and raise families.”
During his unprecedented seven terms as Will County’s elected state’s attorney, Glasgow has led a number of initiatives, including:

- Launching the Will County State’s Attorney’s High Technology Crimes Unit, which has helped law enforcement agencies arrest more than 150 individuals producing or consuming child pornography
- Established the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center to help combat and prosecute child sexual predators
- Created the Paws 4 Kids pet therapy program to comfort sexually abused children who visit the CAC
- Helped create the Will County Drug Court, which helps non-violent offenders kick their addictions and gain employment
- Opened three recovery homes to provide temporary and transitional housing for clients ofthe WCDC
- Established a Veterans Court to provide counseling and treatment to veterans suffering from mental health and substance abuse disorders
Glasgow has also been honored with the Senior Services of Will County 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award, the 2017 George Sangmeister Medal of Excellence for Community Service, and has been elected as the Illinois State Crime Commission State’s Attorney of the Year five times.
