Project Acclaim was founded by the Reverend James E. Allen to promote a positive image of the Joliet area by recognizing organizations and individuals who have made a difference in the community. Project Acclaim sponsors three annual programs: Hall of Pride, Reverend Allen Award for Community Service and Neighborhood Heroes. The City of Joliet has been an enthusiastic program partner for the Neighborhood Hero Award program for several years. It is the hope of both the City and Project Acclaim that these Neighborhood Heroes will inspire other neighbors to follow their example.
