Woman Dies From Head Injuries, Suspect Captured In Joliet Canal: JPD
Joliet police located Demetrius Glover in the river, and he was retrieved with the assistance of the Joliet Fire Department.

JOLIET, IL — On Tuesday, Joliet's Police Department announced that the 23-year-old seriously injured woman from the 1000 block of Kelly Avenue has died at the hospital from her head injuries. Identification of the victim and cause of death will be determined by the Will County Coroner’s Office.
On Saturday afternoon, relatives drove the unconscious woman to Silver Cross Hospital, and she was in critical condition. Since then, Joliet police have captured their criminal suspect from the dirty waters of the Des Plaines River canal. Demetrius Glover faces two counts of aggravated domestic battery and one aggravated fleeing and eluding.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, there are the key events that led to the arrest of Glover, who comes from the 200 block of North Hickory Street:

- Around 12:25 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to Silver Cross Hospital after an unconscious 23-year-old woman with serious head trauma was brought there by family. The family found the victim at her residence in the 1200 block of Kelly Avenue.
- During their investigation, detectives identified Glover as a suspect in this case. It is believed that Glover attacked the victim during a domestic incident.
- Around 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Joliet police saw Glover driving a Nissan Sentra northbound on Scott Street from approaching Liberty Street. Glover sped away across the Ruby Street bridge towards North Broadway Street, police said.
- Glover struck an unoccupied parked vehicle in the 200 block of Granite Street, and then Glover got out of the car and ran toward the Des Plaines River. He jumped into the water, according to police.
- Glover was retrieved from the river with the assistance of the Joliet Fire Department, and he was placed into custody and taken back to the Joliet Police Department.
- On Monday, the Will County State’s Attorney Office approved the three criminal charges and a Will County Judge set bail at $2.5 million.
At 8:45 p.m., Glover was booked into the Will County Jail, where he was incarcerated in 2018, 2017 and 2016.
