Joliet Candidate Files Ballot Challenge Against City Councilwoman

A political rival has filed a ballot challenge against District 4 City Councilwoman Bettye Gavin.
James Foster would not say what he is challenging in Gavin’s election filing, according to My Suburban Life, as he attempts to oust the councilwoman from the April 7, 2015 ballot.

Gavin, who was appointed to the office after the departure of the ailing Susie Barber last spring, was among four candidates to file for the District 4 seat in the April election.
Other candidates include Phillip Petrakos and Angel Guzman.

Joliet’s electoral board is scheduled to hold a hearing on Foster’s challenge to Gavin’s petitions at 4:15 p.m. Jan. 6, in the city council chambers at City Hall, 150 W. Jefferson St.
