JOLIET, IL — Joliet Police officials announced that it took hard work from their agency's detectives to bring first-degree murder charges against Omar Turner, now 21, in connection with a daytime killing that happened on The Hill more than three years ago.

This week, Turner was captured on four counts of first-degree murder in the death of Dimitri Allen, 26. At 3 p.m. Monday, Turner was taken into custody at his residence in the 400 block of Jessie Street by members of the United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force following a brief chase.

Afterward, Turner was interviewed and processed at the Joliet Police Department and then transported to the Will County Jail, where his bail was set at $5 million.

Allen lost his life during the late morning hours of March 25, 2019.

Around 11:55 a.m., Joliet police were sent to Ada Street and Cutter Avenue for a call of gunshots.

Officers found the victim in the yard of a residence in the 1100 block of Cutter Avenue. He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and died at Silver Cross Hospital.

Following an extensive investigation, Joliet Police Department Detectives identified Turner as their prime suspect in Allen's slaying.

Turner is suspected of shooting Allen during a robbery attempt, police revealed. Two weeks ago, Joliet police obtained a warrant for Turner's arrest on the murder charges.
