Kourtney Stevens continued to refuse orders from officers to step back and struck an officer in the arm, Joliet police said.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet man in his 40s and one in his 60s were arrested early Sunday morning on the city's southeast side after a fight broke out stemming from a drug deal, according to Joliet police.
Kourtney Stevens, 41, of the 400 block of Maude Avenue, was booked into county detention on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer and resisting a peace officer. Clifford Williams, 62, of the 300 block of South Ottawa Street, was booked into the jail on domestic battery charges.
The incident leading to their arrests happened at the Williams residence in the 300 block of South Ottawa. Joliet police were called to the disturbance around 1:15 a.m. Sunday. Williams had attacked one of his family members, police reports note.

"During an argument in which the victim refused to provide money to buy drugs, Williams became angry and punched the victim in the face," police spokesman Dwayne English announced. "Stevens intervened in the attack, at which time Williams became involved in a fight with Stevens."
English said the officers were trying to deescalate the tensions inside Williams' place, and Stevens "tried to push past officers to fight Williams. Stevens continued to refuse orders from officers to step back and struck an officer in the arm."

Both Stevens and Williams were placed into custody, but Stevens was initially transported to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department due to a laceration suffered during his fight with Williams, according to English.
Bail for Stevens was put at $75,000, and he posted the necessary 10 percent on Monday morning.
