Joliet Drunken Driver Crashes Into Waste Management Truck: JPD

At 2:05 p.m., Joliet police responded to the area of Gardner Street and Elm Street for Juan Garcia's crash with a garbage truck.

JOLIET, IL — A 40-year-old Joliet resident from the 900 block of Gardner Street was arrested by Joliet police after crashing his Jeep into a Waste Management garbage truck on Friday afternoon, according to arrest reports. Juan Garcia was hauled away in handcuffs and later released from the Joliet police station after receiving his notice to appear in court.

He's charged with DUI and aggravated DUI.

At 2:05 p.m., officers responded to Gardner Street and Elm for a traffic crash.

Police said a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Garcia was westbound on Elm Street at Gardner Street and proceeded onto Gardner Stree, where it struck a Waste Management truck driven by a Joliet man driving was southbound on Gardner Street. There were no injuries from the crash.

While speaking with officers, police said Garcia displayed behaviors consistent with alcohol impairment. Garcia refused to perform field sobriety tests, and he was placed into custody.

Garcia also received citations for Driving While License Revoked and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. Garcia’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
