Joliet Gang Member Shoots Up Illinois Street House: Police

Joliet police officers arrested Tyler Finch, 24, after learning of a shooting incident Saturday morning in the St. Pat's Neighborhood Area.

JOLIET, IL — A 24-year-old resident was arrested Saturday morning by Joliet police in connection with a house being shot up. Officers arrested Tyler Finch on charges of aggravated discharge of a gun, reckless discharge of a gun, unlawful possession of a gun by a street gang member, defacing identification marks on a gun, having no FOID and criminal damage to property.

The shooting incident happened around 9:25 a.m. Squad cars arrived in the unit block of Hunter Avenue after learning that someone was firing a gun into the sky. Moments later, police learned that the same gunman was shooting up a house in the 100 block of Illinois Street, police noted.

Joliet police identified Finch as the gunman and "Finch indicated to officers that he had a handgun in the vehicle. Officers recovered a handgun in the center console of the vehicle and observed that the serial number was defaced," police announced.

One house was struck by bullets from Finch's gunfire, police said.

Finch is now in the Will County Jail and his bail was set at $750,000, jail logs show.
