Joliet Junior College Jazz Band Winter Concert Dec. 4
The band will perform songs such as "Duet," "A Child is Born," "Moten Swing" and "500 Miles High."

The Joliet Junior College Fine Arts Department invites everyone to its annual Winter Jazz concert in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus at 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet, on Friday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. The Naperville North High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Donald Stinson, will open the performance.
The JJC Jazz Band, under the direction of Mr. Rich More, will perform “Duet” by Neal Hefti, “Tall Cotton” by Sammy Nestico, “Hoe-Down” by Oliver Nelson, “A Child Is Born” by Thad Jones, “One Mint Julep” by Quincy Jones, “No More Blues” by Antonio Carlos Jobim, “Moten Swing” by Buster and Benny Moten, “500 Miles High” by Chick Corea, “Sister Sadie” by Horace Silver, and “Maiden Voyage” by Herbie Hancock.

Student soloists will include Leif Sebby (Plainfield) and Christian Bierma (New Lenox) on alto saxophone; Nancy Lehman (Joliet) on tenor saxophone; Kerry Erb (Joliet), Ron Magiera (New Lenox), Dave Griesemer (Frankfort), and Robyn Clarke (Plainfield) on trumpet; Vinny Basile (Joliet), Alex Paolone (Joliet), and William Cooper (Joliet) on trombone; Dana Goodman (Romeoville) and Michael Kovach (Joliet) on drums; Nick Kemp-Bystrzryki,(New Lenox) on guitar, and Janice Murphy (Orland Park) on piano.
The JJC Jazz Band is a community jazz band and participation is open to all residents of District 525 who play a typical jazz band instrument. The group meets on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:45 p.m. each semester. The class may be taken for credit or non-credit. For further information, contact the Fine Arts Department at 815-280-2223.

Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for senior citizens, non-JJC students, JJC faculty and staff; and $2 for JJC students.
