Joliet Man Killed in Deer Hunting Accident

Francisco Hernandez was shot in the head while hunting with a group in Georgia, a published report says.

A Joliet man was killed in a hunting accident Saturday in Georgia.

Francisco Hernandez, 47, was pronounced dead at the Piedmont Wildlife Refuge on the first day of deer-hunting season, according to a story in The Jones County News.

Jones County Deputy Coroner Bill Wright told the paper that the Hernandez, who was shooting with a group of about 10 people, was shot in the head and died instantly at about 10:30 a.m. Oct. 19.

The case is under investigation by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Natural Resources.
