Joliet Man Shot During Robbery? Not At All, Joliet Police Learn
Christopher Crosby indicated he was shot during a robbery attempt, however, Joliet police found no information supporting this claim.

JOLIET, IL — Christopher Crosby, a 32-year-old Joliet man who suffered gunshots to his right leg last October, was picked up by Joliet police last week on charges of armed violence, two counts of obstructing justice, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of a controlled substance.
Way back on Oct. 28, according to Joliet police:
At 3:40 a.m., an officer pulled over a Hyundai Elantra for a registration violation near Western Avenue and North William Street. The vehicle stopped near Western Avenue and Prairie Avenue and a man ran from the front-passenger seat.

Officers conducted a K9 search but were initially unable to find the fleeing passenger. Eventually they located him in an alley behind the 900 block of Campbell Street.
The suspect was identified as Crosby and detained. Officers discovered a gunshot wound to Crosby’s right leg. Officer immediately rendered medical aid. Crosby indicated he was shot during a robbery attempt, however officers did not find any other information supporting this claim.

"It was believed that Crosby may have accidentally shot himself in the leg," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English announced. Crosby was taken to the Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department.
While searching the area in which Crosby ran from the vehicle, officers found a loaded handgun. A K9 also located a bag of suspected ecstasy pills nearby. Back at the car, officers recovered a spent shell casing that was identical to the caliber of weapon.
On Feb. 8, Joliet police drew up an arrest warrant for Crosby and on Feb. 26, at 10:13 a.m., an Officer made a traffic stop of a Jeep Cherokee near Plainfield Road and Frederick Street for speeding.
Crosby was placed into custody on the warrant and the Joliet resident also was cited for speeding and driving while license revoked.
Crosby comes from the 500 block of South Joliet Street. He's been in the Will County Jail on four separate occasions since 2017.
