Joliet Man Tries To Strangle Woman, Attacks Teenage Boy: JPD

On Friday afternoon, Joliet police returned to the residence for another report of a domestic disturbance.

JOLIET, IL — Plainfield-area resident Mark Maroncelli, 49, was booked into the Will County Jail, after Joliet police say he tried to strangle a woman on Friday afternoon and that he also shoved a 17-year-old boy into a glass mirror.

Maroncelli's violent behavior took place at his house in the 2000 block of Winding Lakes Drive on Friday afternoon, according to Joliet police. Maroncelli stayed in his jail until he was let go on Sunday morning. He's charged with aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following events led to Maroncelli's arrest on Winding Lakes Drive:

At 1:02 p.m., Joliet police sped to Winding Lakes Drive for a domestic disturbance after they say Maroncelli had arrived at the house and became involved in a dispute with a 17-year-old boy in the front yard. During the dispute, police said Maroncelli pushed the victim to the ground. Officers completed a report at this time, but did not make an arrest.

Then, at 3:45 p.m., officers returned for another domestic disturbance. Officers learned that during an argument, Maroncelli tried to strangle a woman with his hands. The 17-year-old boy tried to intervene, and Maroncelli pushed him into a mirror, according to police.

This time, Maroncelli was taken into custody. A Joliet Fire Department ambulance responded to the scene; however, no one was taken to the hospital.
