Both Hands Used To Choke Woman, Joliet Man Arrested: JPD

Joliet police were notified that Kelvin Kirby had been located by Shorewood Police in the 500 block of Earl Road.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police made a rare Leap Day arrest, taking 27-year-old resident Kelvin Kirby into custody after authorities say Kirby used his hands to choke a woman. Kirby was taken away in handcuffs, brought to the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated domestic battery and two outstanding warrants from Will County.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events transpired around 11:20 p.m. on Feb. 29:

Officers responded to a house in the 100 block of Key Court for domestic disturbance. Officers learned that during an argument, Kirby choked a woman in the residence. Kirby drove off before the officers arrived, but he did not escape the long arm of the law.

A short time later, Joliet police learned that Shorewood Police officers captured Kirby in the 500 block of Earl Road of their village.

Joliet's officers responded to this located and took over custody of Kirby. It was learned that Kirby also held active Will County arrest warrants for failing to appear in court on previous charges of DUI and Obstructing Identification.
