Joliet Man Vows To Kill Woman During Phone Call Heard By JPD: Cops
At 9:20 p.m., Joliet police officers responded to the residence in the 500 block of Strong Avenue for a domestic disturbance.

JOLIET, IL — A 32-year-old man from the 400 block of Landau Avenue over on the east side is now in the Will County Jail, for the third time since 2019, after Joliet police charged Michael Ortiz with harassment through electronic communication and harassment by telephone.
According to Joliet police reports, back on November 11, 2023, at 8:10 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Strong Avenue to provide a standby.
Officers met with a woman who wished for officers to stand by while she returned two cats to Ortiz. While the victim’s phone was on speaker mode, Ortiz made numerous threats to kill the victim while officers were present. Officers were unable to locate Ortiz at that time.

Meanwhile, detectives investigating this case secured an arrest warrant for Ortiz on December 1.
Then on Monday, at 9:20 p.m., officers responded to the residence in the 500 block of Strong Avenue for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, Ortiz was located on the scene and placed into custody for the two charges.
