Joliet Marijuana Dealer With Gun Jailed: Complaint
Police in Will County continue to aggressively arrest people found with marijuana,

JOLIET, IL - Many people believed that Illinois would be the next state to legalize marijuana following the election of Democrat J.B. Pritzker as new governor. But, so far, nothing has changed. It remains illegal to deal and distribute marijuana. Closer to home, police in Will County continue to aggressively target people with the green leafy substance in their possession.
Last week at the Will County Courthouse, Joliet Patch found a number of new felony marijuana prosecutions that are moving forward. One involves 19-year-old Joliet resident Nicholas Gravitt. The young man who lives in the 2600 block of Gaylord Road was charged on Jan. 29 with two felonies and two misdemeanors. The Will County Cooperative Police Assistance Team, a police task force, was responsible for apprehending Gravitt.
- Count 1, a Class 2 felony, alleges that Gravitt "knowingly and unlawfully possessed with intent to deliver more than 500 grams but not more than 2,000 grams of any substance containing cannabis."
- Count 2 charges Gravitt with unlawful possession of cannabis, a Class 3 felony.
- Count 3 charges Gravitt with possession of firearm without requisite firearm owner's identification card, a class A misdemeanor. The complaint states that Gravitt "knowingly possessed ... a Springfield XD .45 caliber handgun, within this state, without having in his possession a currently valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card previously issued in his name by the Department of State Police ...."
- Count 4 charges Gravitt with possession of ammunition without requisite firearm owner's identification card, a Class A misdemeanor.
After Gravitt wound up inside the Will County Jail, one of the Will County judges set the defendant's bail at $100,000.
