Joliet Motorcycle Rider, 22, Dies On I-55
The young man's death was one of three traffic fatalities in the Joliet area on Sunday night.

JOLIET, IL — A 22-year-old Joliet man was killed Sunday night after his motorcycle rear-ended a car along a southbound stretch of Interstate 55. The victim, Joseph McGrath, died from his injuries at the I-55 crash scene, Illinois State Police said.
Around 10:45 p.m., McGrath was driving a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle southbound in the center lane of I-55 near Veterans Parkway and a 38-year-old man from Bloomington was driving south in a 2013 Silver Honda Odyssey, Illinois State Police said.
The front end of McGrath's Suzuki struck the back end of the Bloomington man's car, police said, throwing McGrath from his motorcycle. McGrath landed in the center lane and McGrath's caught on fire, becoming fully engulfed in the right shoulder facing northbound traffic, police reported.

The motorist from Bloomington was not injured, police said, while McGrath was pronounced dead at the crash scene.
Illinois State Police also investigated Sunday night's death of a 46-year-old Joliet man on Interstate 80 in Joliet. On Sunday afternoon, troopers responded to a motorcycle fatality that resulted in the death of a 35-year-old Channahon resident in I-80 in Grundy County.
