Joliet Murder From 7 Months Ago: Arrest Made, $10 Million Bail

Joliet police found two male juveniles, ages 16 and 13, struck by gunfire as they walked in the 1800 block of McDonough Street.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet's Police Department announced that the Sept. 5 killing of a 16-year-old boy has been solved with the arrest of 20-year-old Joliet resident Eleuterio Roman on three counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of aggravated battery with a gun.

Roman, who comes from the 700 block of Whitley Avenue, was booked into the Will County Jail on Thursday afternoon. His bail is $10 million.

Joliet Patch previously reported that two Joliet teenagers were shot on a Monday night, one fatally, in the 1800 block of McDonough Street. The violence happened around 11:20 p.m. Both gunshot victims were rushed by ambulance to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center, where the 16-year-old boy died. The homicide victim was identified as Tremarion Williams. No arrests have occurred over the past three months.

According to Thursday's Joliet Police press release from Sgt. Dwayne English:

At 11:18 p.m. on Sept. 5, officers were sent to a shots fired incident on McDonough.

Officers found two victims, 16 and 13. The 16-year-old juvenile suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound, and the 13-year-old had been grazed by the gunfire.

Both gunshot victims were taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by ambulance, where the 16-year-old juvenile died.

Joliet Police detectives identified Roman as a suspect in the shooting. On March 28, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Roman and bail was set at $10 million.

Roman was taken into custody Thursday at the Will County Courthouse by members of the U.S. Marshals Great Lake Regional Fugitive Task Force.

In November, Joliet Patch reported that arrests had been made in four of Joliet's seven city homicides for 2022. Thursday's arrest, increases the number from four to five.
