JOLIET, IL — With the legalization of recreational marijuana in Illinois, marijuana arrests are substantially down in Joliet, but they are still occurring. Last week, Joliet Police officers hauled away Ahmed Salameh in handcuffs. He was booked into Will County's Jail on felony charges of unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis.

According to the criminal complaint submitted by Joliet Police Detective Shawn Filipiak, Salameh knowingly and intentionally possessed between 2,000 and 5,000 grams of marijuana on Feb. 5 and he intended to deliver the drug to other people here in Joliet.

Will County Judge Brian Barrett, after hearing evidence from Will County prosecutors, set bail for the 22-year-old defendant at $100,000.
