Joliet Homicide Victim Identified; Son Slain Last July

Floyd Faint Sr. is the third person shot to death in Joliet this week. A fourth person was killed over the weekend in Crest Hill.

JOLIET, IL — The Will County Coroner's Office announced that the latest Joliet homicide victim has been identified as 47-year-old Floyd Faint Sr. The Joliet resident was fatally shot multiple times in his driveway in the 700 block of Francis Street, near Henderson Avenue.

Joliet police said the slaying occurred at 4:26 p.m.

Tuesday's homicide of Floyd Faint Sr. comes less than 10 months after his 29-year-old son, Floyd Faint Jr., was fatally shot multiple times on a Saturday morning along the I&M Canal State Trail Brandon Road Access near Rockdale. Joliet Patch reported last July that the Illinois State Police are investigating Floyd Faint Jr.'s homicide.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with Floyd Faint Jr.'s homicide from last summer.

Early Tuesday evening, about 50 people, including some who know the victim, were gathered around the perimeter of the crime scene, which was roped off near Henderson and Francis. Around two dozen police officers were on the scene.

Less than five hours after Floyd Faint Sr. died of gunshots, Joliet Police responded to another gunshot slaying on the city's east side, in the 300 block of Grant Avenue. It was the Grant Avenue homicide that led to a police chase of the fleeing murder suspects along Interstate 80 and Interstate 55.

Also Tuesday night, the Will County Sheriff's Office responded to two separate gunshot incidents that left three people wounded, including one person critically. Those two shootings happened on Joliet's east side on Washington Street and also on Nobles Avenue.

Tuesday's latest two homicides in the city of Joliet came three days after Joliet Police officers responded to a double homicide at an apartment complex on the city's far east side and four days after a fatal shooting in nearby Crest Hill.

Saturday early morning's shooting at an apartment building on Parkwood Drive killed a 24-year-old man from Naperville and an 18-year-old Joliet teen. Two other people suffered gunshot wounds in that crime.

On Friday evening, a 21-year-old Joliet man was fatally shot in the Taco Bell parking lot on Plainfield in nearby Crest Hill.
