Joliet Public Library Awarded Project Next Generation Grant
Joliet Library receives grant to boost confidence and expand knowledge of technology in students

JOLIET—The Joliet Public Library has been awarded the Project Next Generation (PNG) grant by Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White. The grant is awarded to empower and educate students in grades 5-12 on the latest technology by using positive and helpful role models and library based group projects.
The Joliet Public Library was chosen for this grant for innovative ideas to encourage self-confidence in students, especially as they gain knowledge for their future careers. With the PNG grant, students with limited access to computers can learn about ground-breaking technology within the library walls with trained staff as their mentors.
Library staff plans to familiarize students with new technology that is available on both the consumer and professional level. Interim Library Director, Helene Marzec, said the grant will introduce students to several creative technologies that will be useful in their studies and when they become professionals.
