Joliet Public Schools District 86 Provides Meals for Students

Joliet Public Schools District 86 is offering free grab-and-go meals for students in grades Kindergarten through eighth grade who are registered for remote learning in District 86. The meals are available for curbside pick-up on Mondays and Thursdays at Hufford and Washington Junior High Schools from 6:30 until 7:30 a.m. and from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Dirksen, Gompers, Hufford, and Washington Junior High Schools.

Monday meals include enough food for three breakfasts and three lunches and Thursday meals provide food for two breakfasts and two lunches. Student names are required at the pick-ups.

The distributions will occur in the Midland Avenue (south of Jefferson Street) parking lot at Dirksen, the Briggs Street (south of U.S. 6) parking lot at Gompers, the Ingalls Avenue (west of Larkin Avenue) parking lot at Hufford, and the Richards Street parking lot (south of Fourth Avenue) at Washington Junior High School.

Joliet Public Schools District 86, the fourth largest elementary school district in Illinois, has provided 420,090 meals for children since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. The District began the 2020-2021 school year in remote learning on August 24th for nearly 11,000 students from 21 schools in the city of Joliet.
