Joliet Raceway Getting Ready to Host Snowmobile Racing
The track's first-ever snocross event is Feb. 20 and 21.

Joliet Route 66 Raceway is being transformed into a snow-covered, motocross-style race course for its first-ever snowmobile racing tournament.
The Hollywood Casino Snocross National is set for Feb. 20 to 21 at the raceway, 50 Speedway Boulevard.
The raceway, which is usually empty for most of the winter, will be transformed into a course “for tricked out snowmobiles, capable of amazing 0-to-60 mph speeds and jumps that launch the sleds nearly the distance of an NBA basketball court,” officials said in a news release.

The nationally televised event will be the first snocross tournament south of Lake Geneva, the raceway told My Suburban Life. Operations Manager Shayn McMartin said the tourney is “new territory for us,” estimating it will cost around $100,000 to transform the drag strip into a course with elevated snow dunes.
